- Tagetes Erecta is also called as Mexican MariGold.
- Other few names of Tagetes are Aztec Marigold, Cempazúchitl and African Marigold.
- Its belongs to the flowering family of Asteraceae.
- Although Tagetes are native to Mexico, but they are also found in Central America and Caribbean.
Tagetes are widely cultivated and there are many Cultivars used in gardening as an Ornamental plant.
- Tagetes are also called as flor de muertos ("Flower of Dead") in Mexico and is used in the Dia de Muertos celebration every year on 2nd November .
Tagetes are used as Medicinal purposes and they are also used in Culinary the ray florets have beeen used in lettuce salads and other foods for color and flavour.
The Oil of Flower contains Antioxidants, it is also added to Perfumes to infuse an apple scent into them and also used as Natural Dye on Textiles.
