Delonix Regia

  • Delonix regia is a flowering plant in the bean family Fabaceae, it is native to Madagascar.
  • Delonix leaves are fern and flamboyant display on orange-red flowers over summer.
  • In many parts of world it is grown as Ornamental plant.
  • This tree does not like heavy or clay soils.






  • In most of villages it is grown on sideways of Roads and in agricultural places.
  • This plant prefers an open free-draining sandy or loamy soil.
  • The seeds of this plant  can be "Pinched" and planted immediately.
  • Delonix regia Spreads widely and its dense foliage provides full shade.
  • It is an "Evergreen" plant.








  • In India Delonix Regia is called as "May-flower tree" or "Gulmohar" plant.
  • The flowers of  Gulmohar are large with four spreading Orange-red petals.
  • The flowers of Gulmohar are used in producing Bee Forage.
