MY THOUGHTS ON "SOIL"

Hello Viewer's! My name is Color, Am here to tell you about "Soil"(Mud), how it plays an Important role in our Daily Life.

  Foot in wet mud

  • Soil is nothing but commonly referred as "Earth".
  • It is an Habitat for different organisms.
  • Soil is our life support system, without soil human life is would be very difficult.
  • It also holds the necessary nutrients to allow plants to grow

  •  As the Rain hits the ground the "Smell of soil" is such  a               beautiful feeling, as we were Kids we all came through by playing   in soil, though its taste  like shit we all  have tasted soil but it   happens, has we were kids, it was like a Toy to us(Playing in soil) .

What is Soil?

Soil is a mixture of minerals, of both dead and living organisms (organic materials), as well as air and water in varying proportions. Their four ingredients interact with each other in amazing ways, making soil one of our planet’s most dynamic and important natural resources.

Healthy soil is 45% mineral (soil solids), 25% air (soil pore spaces), 25% water and 5% organic matter. However, knowing what soil is made of is only part of the story. The way soil constituents are organised (its structure) has a key influence on how they interact with one another and thus controls soil processes.

             The Importance of Soil !

Soil is not just soil. Soil is as alive as your plants, bustling and thriving with organic life. It’s rich in organic matter to support life in the soil, so all your plants flourish. It also holds the necessary nutrients to allow plants to grow.

               Medium for plant growth:
  • Soils support roots and keep them upright for growth.
  • Soils provide plants with essential minerals and nutrients.
  • Soils provide air for gaseous exchange between roots and atmosphere.
  • Soils protect plants from erosion and any other destructive physical, biological and chemical activity.

   Soil In our daily life:
  • We often use soil to clean our body as a type of Ayurveda, it relax sore muscle and Joints and it also improves the skin condition.
  • It gives  a peaceful sleep after death of any living organisms, As we burry dead body, soil hide's the decompose smell of body.
  • Soil we use it for Medicinal purpose but, at the same way we Pollute it by using Fertilizer's in agricultural farming.

  •  We get purified drinking water from the Beneath of soil.
  • Soil is the foundation on which homes, roads, waste water treatment plants, hiking trails, camp grounds, office buildings, and home sewage treatment systems are built.
  • Soil holds water for our streams, rivers, lakes, and ponds, providing us with recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and swimming.
  • Healthy soils mitigate the impacts of extreme weather events.
  •  Soil holds the water for wells (groundwater) and reservoirs which supply us with drinking water.
  • Soil stores and filters rainwater and snowmelt, mitigating floods and drought.
  •  In Ancient, medieval and modern periods soil has been used in "Sheltering" purpose.
  • Soil grows the food to feed humans, domestic animals and wildlife. Globally, about 95% of our food comes from soils.
  • Even the tiny ants loves the  house's made upof Soil.
  • Insects and microbes (very tiny single-cell organisms) live in the soils and depend on soils for food and air.
  • Many organisms such as insects to lay and hatch eggs and rodents to give birth to new offsprings.
  • Some types of soil are applied on face.
  • It is used in wastewater treatment plants.

Many small Animals and birds they dig Soil to find there favourite food                      called "EarthWorms".

Soil in Agriculture

Soil mainly has three types:  Loamy soil, clayey soil and sandy soil. Among all soil Loamy soil is more suitable for farming it has good water hold capacity. Soil provides essential nutrients, water, oxygen and support to the roots, all elements that favour the growth and development of plants for food production.
Soil for agriculture
  • Good water holding capacity
  • Proper aeration and Good consistency (texture)
  • Rich in nutrients (micro and macronutrients)

REASONS TO BE "GREATFUL FOR SOIL"

  1. Soil is the backbone of our food security. Without healthy soils, farmers wouldn’t be able to provide us with feed, fiber, food, and fuel.
  2. Just like how a foundation for a home is critical, healthy soils act as a foundation for plants by supporting plant roots and keeping plants upright for growth.
  3. Soils act as a pantry for plants, storing and cycling essential nutrients and minerals that plants need to grow.
  4. Soils maintain adequate aeration for plants, providing oxygen for microbes, insects and plant roots.
  5. Healthy soils provide farmers with better crop yields and protect plants from stress.
  6. When it comes to human health, almost all of the antibiotics we take to help fight infection were obtained by soil microbes.
  7. Healthy soils protect the land from erosion.
  8. Soil is the foundation of our buildings, roads, houses, and schools. In fact, soil affects how buildings are made.
  9. When it comes to human health, almost all of the antibiotics we take to help fight infection were obtained by soil microbes.
  10. Soils filter surface water of dust, chemicals and other contaminants. This is why underground water is some of the cleanest sources of water.
  11. Soil is a nonrenewable natural resource. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), it can take hundreds to thousands of years to form a centimeter of soil. But, that single centimeter of soil can be lost in a single year due to erosion.

“Essentially, all life depends on the soil… there can be no life without soil and no soil without life; they have evolved together.”

❝Kiss the Soil, its a thanks giving.❞

Happy World Soil Day!
In order to stress the importance of environmental and soil protection, the United Nations celebrate this indispensable natural resource every year with World Soil Day, on 5th December. Celebrations are taking place around the world and so they do, for instance, in the Republic of San Marino, to which the World Future Council was invited to speak.

Soil is Sustenance of our life.
