  • Senna plant is much branched Shrub with cinnamon brown bark, it belongs to the flowering family of  "Fabaceae"  and Subfamily to "Caesalpinioideae".
  • Senna Auriculata is Commonly known Tangedu("the poor mans flower"), Sinhala, avarike and Avaram senna etc.,.

  • Senna plants mostly occurs in the Dry regions of India and Sri Lanka.
  • It is Common along the Sea Coast and the Dry Zone in Sri Lanka .
  • Flowers of Senna are Irregular, Bisexual, bright yellow and large, the pedicels glabrous.










  • Senna Auriculata is "State Flower" of Telangana, India.
  • It is called as "Tangedu puvvu" in telangana state and also used at Flower festival called "Bathukamma".


  • Senna is best suitable at Home gardens and landscaping roadways.
  • It also tolerates drought and dry conditions, these flowers are very attractive and leaves have laxative properties
