Calotropis gigantea

 


  • Calotropis is a flowering plant in the family of "Apocynaceae".
  • It is native to Southern Asia and North Africa etc.,.
  • Calotropis are clusters of waxy flower that are white in color.
  • Calotropis is a Poisonous plant.


  • Each waxy flowers consists of five petals and a small Crown from center which  holds the stamens.
  • Calotropis plants has Oval, Light green leaves and milky stem.









  • Catropis gigantea is used as medicine in India for many years.
  • The plant is effectively used in treating skin when swelling with redness, used to treat fevers, vomiting and Diarrhea.
  • The milky juice of Calotropis was used against "Arthritis" and also an "antidote for Snake bite."




  • Calotropis is a Poisonous plant, the Leaves and Stem when Incised Yield thicky milk juice.
  • It is used as arrow poison, cattle poison and mostly an accidental poison.
  • Medicinal uses are applied to skin, it causes redness and vesication, this plant treats Stomach wash and Symptomatic treatment.
