Grannies Home!
Wohhh! vacation....vacation.....vacation.....We all do love to hear the word vacation right! As when we all were child vacation was most Exciting thing for us. What was your's best vacation place?..
As when I was child for me and to my sister one of the best vacations was during Summer vacation and best place for visiting was going to our "Grandmaa's House." My Grand maa, smt.Meera Kumari, who lives at small town called "vallor", everybody in the town address as "Meera maa" as she was a well known person for her Loyalty at her home town.
If I see a difference from present kids and when i was kid has a lot of changes as from ages. There were No Gamic zones, no videogames, no nearby movie theatres, no restaurants and many more. Vacations meant to me was to visit grandmaa's home spending time with grand parents, cousins, aunts and uncle and their children's. Sometime my parents use to drop us there during summer vacation, to stay for few days and go back.
"If you all do remember we all might studied in different schools at different corners of the country, but our holiday place would be quite same (Grandmaa's Home). We all do had the most loving memories from her place."
My grandmother was totally Illiterate but she could take care everything like Agriculture farming, domestic animals and she loves every member of her family with same loves towards everyone with a smile.
"Grandmaa's patience was one of the Virtues."
I used to address her as Nani.
Our story was! It's early morning I can hear the sound of crows, hens and birds in sleep. Such a cool weather too because surrounding has agriculture farming. "Get up Arnav and Ahana, its morning and feel the amazing breeze of our village. Get up! get up.....my kids am preparing tasty breakfast for you both, get up and fresh up!.......
Me and my sister Ahana jumped from bed, brushed teeth and had bath with Warm water. We went to kitchen room to see what our Nani preparing, her kitchen was a room with mats rolled up in one corner, few stools, many olden and modern plates, glasses and different size of potteries. Nani was sitting on the floor at center to serve breakfast, me and ahana both sat close to her and we all together had hot Dosa and vada as our best breakfast with coconut chutney.
After breakfast, our grandfather Rathan Das, whom we call as Naanu came to kitchen to take us out for a walk. He as shown us farming place's were different type of vegetables, pulses and grains has been cultivated and even to cattle house were his taking care of 5 buffaloes,3cows and two calfs, two bulls and a bullock cart. He has shown us many Gulmohar tress which has beautiful red flowers were planted at the entry to the village The village has 3 to 5 stores.
Nannu lets go home Nani might be waiting for us, said Ahana!
while returning home Nannu told us few things which I never forget till age's.
"My kids what you are now, it might be a gift from your parent's but before that, you should never forget in life from where you born, your intense family and the respect towards to your village and elders."
Yes, "Nannu! will never forget this words and beautiful moments from our life", we both said.
Back to home, Nani prepared some stuff parathas and big chunks of home made butter...it was soo tasty. It is difficult to recall how many each one of us ate but nani would serve us with ease. Next, she would organize the bed room and make it look like a study.
But, as our vacations would slowly come to end, she would be seen making other preparations. She would give up her sleep and making some random snacks for us. Here, Naanu brought the new clothes were stitched for us from the tailor.
At evening naanu called a barber for us to have a neat haircut and oil massage.
On the last day, nani used to pack pickle jar, food items, vegetables and home made ghee with our luggage. Nannu used to drop us to town in his old ambassador car, from there it would be my dad's duty to pick us and to take home.
I enjoyed their love the most. Before leaving, nani gave us a promise, "I'll live up to the day when you both will be the best." She kissed on our hands, all were little emotion while leaving but, still we has to leave.
While going in our nannu's ambassador he played some classical music, I was looking to the villager's passing, cattle's, farming areas, people's working in farm field, i setback my self to car seat, closed my eye's it was soo peace and i was thinking about village, greenery how it has lot of difference from cities, innocent peoples, cultivation, poultry, dairy and specially my Nani Meera kumari.
I just finished my 12th standard, as growing up I my self decided my life ambition, few call it as Goal and few might be aspiration, I wanted to be a film Director which make's me satisfying and happy because i chosen it by myself even my Grandmother used to say this, "In this short span of life, setting the goals and living life how they wants to has to be decide by themselves." Her words, native peoples and village inspired me, one day when I be a be a film maker, I will direct a movie which will be based on family-village-villagers-agriculture which is far from City Sounds.
I heard the horn sound and i opened my eyes, we reached town from village and my father was waiting for us too, we shifted luggage from ambassador to dad's car, Me and Ahana hugged our Nannu and said Bye to him.
