         Castor plant

  • Ricinus Communis plant is also called as Castor oil plant.
  • It is a flowering plant in the family of Euphorbiaceae.
  • This plant is reproduces with a mixed pollination system which selfing by geitonogamy.
  • Ricinus is very greatly in its growth Habit.
  • It has glossy leaves long and palmate with five to twelve deep lobes with coarsely toothed segments.
  • Castor plant gives Castor fruit and Castor seed inside the fruit.
  • Castor seed is the source of Castor oil, which has many uses.
  • The seed is so named because it has markings and it resembled many ticks.
  • The fruit is a spiny, greenish containing large, Oval, shiny, bean-like,  highly poisonous seeds with brownish mottling.

  • Castor is a plant that produces Seeds, castor oil is produced by pressing ripe seeds that have had their outer covering(hull) removed.
  • Hull contains deadly poison called ricin.
  • Castor oil has been used as Medicine since from centuries.

  • The Castro oil is used to treat Constipation, it can also be used to clean Intestines before surgery.
  • Castor Oil is known as Stimulant Laxative.
